According to a report by Chainalysis, North Korean hackers stole $21 trillion worth of crypto this year.
The method: several North Korean IT workers disguised themselves to infiltrate crypto and technology companies, then steal assets.
Major case examples:
-Theft of $300 million on the Japanese exchange, DMM Bitcoin.
-Loss of $235 million from WazirX, an exchange from India.
The US government is concerned because the stolen funds are suspected of being used to fund North Korea's weapons program. Last week, a US court indicted 14 North Koreans in this case. In fact, the US government is offering a $5 million reward for anyone with information about this hacking scheme.
