Influencer who created “erotic” memecoin is sued by investors after suspicion of scam
American influencer who created an erotic memecoin called “Hawk Tuah”, Haliey Welch, is being sued in the US courts by investors in the project.
According to Bloomberg Law, the lawsuit reached the courts last Thursday (19), after promoting a token project in the United States, which hit the market without registration with the SEC.
Thus, investors are suffering a 90% loss on their acquisitions since the launch of the $HAWK token. Memecoins have been a craze among investors in 2024, but they also leave large trails of losses.
The so-called memecoins are found in several thematic niches, such as dogs (Dogecoin and Shiba Inu), frogs (Pepe), among others.
However, the so-called erotic memecoins have started to attract interest from gamblers in this market, who are starting to speculate. In the case of the Hawk Tuah meme, the term became famous after an American woman said that she used an unconventional mechanism to get men excited about her performance.
After evidence of fraud, the influencer behind the project disappeared from her audience for two weeks, following the collapse in the price of her memecoin.
In Brazil, investors are also closely following the emergence of tokens of this type, although they ignore the market risks involved. Apparently, the new frauds against investors are disguised as meme tokens, effortlessly capturing money from victims deceived by online pranks.
Whether using the image of famous artists, internet memes or even the new niche of erotic memecoins, investors believe that they can invest little money and make a very quick profit. Like a financial pyramid, those who enter at the beginning and exit quickly may even profit, but the reality is that most investors will carry worthless tokens in their wallets forever.
