Shocking Crypto Crime Lands Bank Employee 15 Years in Jail
A South Korean banker stole $12.4 million from his own employer, Woori Bank, to fund his crypto obsession. Over 10 months, he forged loan documents, funneled money into his accounts, and spent $10.4 million on crypto โ only to lose $4.35 million in failed investments.
The court wasnโt lenient. Heโs been sentenced to 15 years in prison and ordered to repay 10.52 billion won ($7.3M). While $3 million of his assets were seized, $4M remains unrecoverable.
Whatโs wild? He also used the stolen money to pay off loans and cover living expenses. His defense blamed poor management at the bank, but the court made it clear: this was a massive betrayal of trust that damaged Woori Bankโs reputation.
