Analysts expect the current bull market cycle, driven by the launch of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and increasing institutional demand, to peak in the third and fourth quarters of 2025, based on the price trends that typically follow halving events.

Bitfinex analysts believe that the price of Bitcoin (BTC) could reach $200,000 by mid-2025, after a year full of historic achievements that included the launch of the first spot exchange-traded fund (Spot ETF) for digital assets.

Analysts published a report on Monday stating that the recent 2024 halving event is an indication that the price will take an upward path over the next year, similar to what happened after previous halving events, adding that continued buying of Bitcoin by ETFs and institutional investors may contribute to the correction waves remaining relatively minor during the current Bitcoin bull market cycle.

Bitfinex Expects Bitcoin to Hit $200,000 After Halving Despite Volatility in 2025

“The current bull market reflects strong institutional demand led by ETF providers and investors buying Bitcoin heavily via spot markets,” the platform’s analysts said, adding that “historical data suggests that we are currently in the middle of the Bitcoin post-halving cycle in April 2024, and the market cycle is likely to peak in Q3-Q4 2025, approximately 450 days after the halving; the year following the halving has traditionally seen the strongest bull runs.”

They continued: “Looking ahead, we believe that a significant portion of Bitcoin’s upside for this cycle has already been covered with BTC price crossing the $100,000 barrier, but we believe that the lower end of Bitcoin price targets will be in the $140,000-$200,000 range by mid-2025.”

On the other hand, analysts expect volatility in early 2025 within a general upward trend, thanks to ETFs, institutional adoption, and Bitcoin’s growing status as a global asset, but they also advised investors to watch for signs of the currency reaching overbought areas as the current bull market cycle nears its end.
