On December 10, 2024, Microsoft shareholders voted against the proposal to assess the feasibility of investing the company’s funds in Bitcoin.
The initiative was put forward by the organization The National Center for Public Policy Research (NCPPR). It suggested that Microsoft allocate between 1% to 5% of its profits for investments in Bitcoin.
The company's board of directors recommended rejecting the proposal. It stated that Microsoft’s investment managers had already considered the issue of purchasing Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies but concluded that it is too volatile an asset, while the company aims for "stable and predictable investments to ensure liquidity and fund operational activities."
As a result, shareholders agreed with the board's recommendation and rejected the proposal, maintaining the current course on corporate finance management.
