The status of your account (card) ending in XXXX is abnormal. Don't panic! To fully ensure the safety of your funds, our bank has suspended certain functionalities of this account, but incoming funds are unaffected. Please bring your valid ID and physical card to the counter to complete the identity verification process.

If you see the above information, it means that your account has been classified and controlled by the bank. This is actually a common risk control measure. It usually manifests as a suspension of non-counter services, and in some cases, it may also be in a payment stop state, where the account can only receive funds but not make payments. So why is it being controlled like this? The main reasons are as follows:

1. Suspected Money Laundering Operations: If the account shows long-term rapid inflows and outflows, extremely frequent transactions, often has large transfers, and even remains active late at night, small test transactions followed by sudden large deposits, and then funds are quickly dispersed with little or no balance remaining, these abnormal transaction behaviors can easily trigger the anti-money laundering risk control model, prompting the bank to classify and control the account. To lift this control, you need to explain the unusual transactions to the bank and prepare transaction materials, waiting for staff verification.

2. Accounts Associated with Fraud: If you have transacted with fraud-related accounts, they may first be protected with a payment stop by the police. Even after the police lift the stop, the bank will continue to control and stop payments due to risk considerations. This is to prevent you from being defrauded again, and the risk control system views police-stopped accounts as high risk. To handle this situation, first confirm that the police have lifted the protective payment stop, and then communicate with the bank to lift the risk control. To remove the protective stop, you need to go to the police station to explain the situation, where the police will conduct anti-fraud publicity, take photos for verification, and upload them to the anti-fraud system. Once confirmed, you can inform the bank that the matter has been resolved and request immediate lifting; if necessary, filing a complaint often yields good results.

3. Police Involved Account Freezing: Once an account has been frozen by the police, it will be monitored by the bank and placed on a controlled list. This indicates that the account is suspected of fraud, and it must be reviewed by the anti-fraud center. If the police confirm that there are no involved cases and the number of freezes is low, the probability of lifting the control is higher; if there are abnormal transactions, involvement in illegal activities like money laundering or fund transfers, not only can the control not be lifted, but there may also be penalties. Of course, if the anti-fraud police permit the lifting of control, the bank will simultaneously cancel the risk control.

4. Long-Term Inactive Accounts: Also known as dormant accounts, due to the 'card discontinuation campaign' requirements, the bank has included these long-term non-traded cards on the controlled list, locking the accounts and suspending transactions to prevent rental, lending, or sale risks. However, unfreezing such accounts is the least complicated; just bring your ID and bank card to the account opening bank, verify your identity, complete due diligence, and sign a refusal to lend notice to restore normal operations.
