Why does Trump want to use Bitcoin as a national store of value?

We issue currency just like the dollar does.

In the past 20 years, trade had to be conducted in US dollars, but now it can be settled in multiple currencies, putting the dollar's status at risk.
Bitcoin has a supply limit, and the US holds the most, not subject to foreign exchange controls; perhaps it’s better to harvest in another way.
