The price history of Bitcoin (BTC) is a wild ride. It was created in 2009 by Satoshi Nakamoto, and its value has fluctuated dramatically over the years.¹

Initially, the value of BTC was almost nothing. The first real-world transaction took place in May 2010, when a programmer named Laszlo Hanyecz offered 10,000 BTC to anyone who could get him two Papa John's pizzas delivered.

Fast forward to July 2010, the value of BTC had risen to $0.08 per coin. By February 2011, it had reached parity with the US dollar.

Over the years, BTC's value has experienced significant highs and lows. In November 2024, it reached an all-time high of over $90,000.²

As of today, December 5, 2024, the price of BTC is $101,952.31, with a 24-hour trading volume of $116.47 billion.
