Digital currency $XRP lost because the owner... hid it too well
Matthew Mellon is an American investor, known for his investments in the cryptocurrency Ripple (XRP). The reason he chose Ripple is that it is one of the few cryptocurrencies operating within the banking system. Mellon is a direct descendant of Thomas Mellon - the founder of Mellon Bank and Anthony Joseph Drexel - a banker who played a significant role in American finance after the Civil War. He stated: "I am a supporter of America, supporting businesses and banks. That is why I chose Ripple". Mellon's cryptocurrency assets are worth about 1 billion USD.
Lost $BTC Bitcoin because his mother... threw away the laptop
This is the story of a Reddit member but perhaps also reflects the "tragedy" of many "potential millionaires". According to news.com.au, a Reddit member stated that he once owned 10,000 Bitcoin in 2010 and kept the wallet keys on his laptop. By 2014, when cryptocurrencies began to surge, he suddenly remembered his college assets and returned home to search for the old laptop, only to find that his laptop was lying in a pile of scrap metal because his mother had thrown it out once.
According to The Sun, this person shared: "I wanted to faint, I was angry, confused, severely shocked, in denial, sad, outraged, and went through many other emotions". Every time he saw the price of Bitcoin rise, he felt more and more devastated.
"I am still poor, still living with my parents, I work but do not like what I do, and I still hang out with friends but do not talk to them much. My life is not the same as before," he said.
