US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Paul Atkins as the new chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and confirmed the choice of Michael Faulkender as deputy secretary of the US Treasury. The announcements were made in posts on his profile on the social network Truth Social, this Wednesday, the 4th.
The Republican said that Atkins is a “proven leader in common-sense regulation” and that he recognizes that digital assets are crucial to making the United States “greater than ever”.
Regarding Faulkender, Trump said that the professor will help Scott Bessent, chosen to be head of the Department, in providing an “economic boom” for all North Americans.
In the wake of the appointments, Trump also appointed David Warrington as counselor and assistant to the president; William McGinley as counselor of the Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE); Gail Slater as assistant attorney general of the antitrust division of the Department of Justice; and Monica Crowley, as Ambassador, Assistant Secretary of State and Chief of Protocol of the United States of America.
