On X, Ramaswamy shared his vision for the department, writing: “Most government projects should have a clear expiration date. That's why we set one for DOGE: July 4, 2026.”
Musk responded to Ramaswamy, saying: “The final step of DOGE is to eliminate itself.”
The goal of DOGE is to create a more agile and cost-effective government, with Musk focusing on reducing the federal budget by $2 trillion and removing regulatory barriers that hinder innovation.
Meanwhile, Ramaswamy is emphasizing the need to reduce government overreach and build greater trust in national institutions. The department is intended to dissolve once it has achieved its ambitious goals for 2026.
Recently, the initiative received support from leaders, including Senator Bernie Sanders. Sanders spoke out on the social media platform X, stating: “Elon Musk is right. The Pentagon, with a budget of $886 billion, has just failed its seventh consecutive audit. It has lost track of billions.
He continued: “Last year, only 13 senators voted against the Military-Industrial Complex and a defense budget filled with waste and fraud. That must change.”
