$DOGE Meme-inspired Cryptocurrency Dogecoin Surges on
Trump's New Musk-Led "DOGE" Unit
The meme-inspired cryptocurrency Dogecoin has surged sharply, reaching over $0.42 on November 13, following President-Elect Donald Trump's appointment of Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the newly created "Dept of Govt Efficiency" (DOGE). Known for his support of Dogecoin, Musk has previously called himself the
"Dogefather" and suggested Twitter accept the cryptocurrency. The currency, created by engineers Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer, has experienced exponential growth post-US election. Dogecoin's value has jumped 150% since November 5, while Bitcoin, the world's largest cryptocurrency, recently reached a milestone of $90,000.
The surge in the crypto market is also fueled by Trump's promises of regulatory cuts and crypto-centric policies.
