Apple has released beta versions of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 to developers, which add new Apple Intelligence features. These include ChatGPT integration, TechCrunch writes.
To activate the chatbot, you need to give permission. It answers questions via Siri and helps with writing in any app that supports the new Writing Tools feature.
If Apple's voice assistant is unable to answer a question on its own, it suggests turning to the OpenAI platform.
Additionally added:
emoji generation within Genmoji;
Image Playground image creation platform;
technologies for analyzing visual information Visual Intelligence;
Image Wand photo object removal function.
Genmoji can create emoji based on prompts. They can be used in messages and reactions.
Visual Intelligence is accessible via the camera control button introduced in the iPhone 16 series. The tool can scan QR codes, text, identify phone numbers and email addresses to add to contacts, translate information into another language. The service gets access to ChatGPT.
Image Playground can generate images from prompts or photographs.
iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 are expected to be released to the public next week. They include a new look for Siri, some other improvements to the voice assistant, updated photo search, and other AI-powered features.
Among the non-AI-related new features in iOS 18.2: Apple has added the ability to delete the App Store, Camera, Safari, Messages, and Photos apps in the EU as part of regulatory compliance. You will be able to restore the App Store in Settings if needed.
As a reminder, in June Apple announced a major AI initiative called Apple Intelligence, which includes the integration of ChatGPT.
Soon, Elon Musk threatened to ban Apple devices from his companies if OpenAI's chatbot was added to the operating systems for iPhone, iPad and Mac.
