【U.S. Election Timeline】
1. November 5: Presidential Election: All eligible citizens can participate in the popular vote, and citizens can vote for any presidential candidate.
2. December 16: Electoral Voting: The U.S. presidential election uses the Electoral College system. Elector votes are allocated to each state based on population. There are a total of 538 electoral votes nationwide. The presidential candidate who wins the majority of popular votes in a state receives all of that state's electoral votes (winner-takes-all).
3. January 6, 2025: Confirmation of Results: A joint session of Congress will be held to count the electoral votes, with the President of the Senate announcing the final results. If no candidate wins at least 270 electoral votes, the House of Representatives will directly decide the presidential election according to the 12th Amendment of the Constitution.
4. January 20, 2025: Inauguration: The new President and Vice President will take their oaths of office during the inauguration ceremony.
