CRYPTO HIGHLIGHTS (update)
1️⃣ Gotbit, ZM Quant, CLS Global, and MyTrade have been charged with cryptocurrency fraud. The Boston U.S. Attorney's Office has launched an investigation into these crypto companies, as well as their executives and employees, which has included arrests abroad. Gotbit founder Alexey Andryunin was arrested in Portugal on October 8 and is awaiting extradition.
2️⃣ The U.S. Federal Reserve has released the minutes of its September rate meeting. The minutes of the meeting, held on September 18, showed that the majority of votes were cast in favor of lowering the key interest rate by 50 bps. Some were in favor of lowering it by 25 bps.
3️⃣ Peter Todd said that the HBO director just wanted to make a profitable movie. According to Todd, an early Bitcoin developer, if the director of the new HBO film Cullen Hoback really wanted to find the real identity behind the Satoshi Nakamoto pseudonym, he would have presented his theories to him and Adam Back.
4️⃣ Crypto companies have paid at least $32 billion to US regulators, according to a report by CoinGecko. The record amount of $19.45 billion was recorded in 2024. This is $12.7 billion from FTX and Alameda, $4.5 billion from Terraform Labs
