Vice President Kamala Harris has made her first public statement during the U.S. presidential campaign encouraging investment in digital assets. The announcement was made at a fundraiser on Wall Street in Manhattan on September 22.

"We will work together to invest in American competitiveness and invest in America's future. We will encourage innovative technologies like artificial intelligence and digital assets while protecting our consumers and investors," Harris said.

This is Harris's first time since becoming the leading Democratic candidate in the presidential race.
Meanwhile, Republican opponent Donald Trump has also taken steps to attract the cryptocurrency industry.

Alexander Grieve, vice president of government affairs at investment firm Paradigm, called Harris’ announcement “encouraging” and said that no matter who wins in November, “this should be the last time the government goes against cryptocurrency.”

Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Jake Chervinsky wrote on X that this is a step forward, but the phrase “protecting consumers and investors” can mean a lot of different things. He believes that opponents of cryptocurrency often use the term “consumer protection” as a smokescreen to make things difficult for the industry.

According to a report from Public Citizen, major crypto companies such as Coinbase, Ripple, and Gemini spent nearly $120 million to influence the November election.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump has strongly supported the cryptocurrency industry by releasing four NFT series, supporting his family's cryptocurrency foundation, and promising to become the "crypto president." He also announced that he would fire Gary Gensler, the chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), who has taken many measures against leading cryptocurrency companies.

Personal opinion:

Harris and Trump will both speak at the Bitcon conference.
Trump was confirmed earlier, and Harris was confirmed later.
Harris also hired Mark Cuban as a consultant.
Both candidates want to win over the cryptocurrency community.
Previously, many people in the cryptocurrency circle had expectations for the cryptocurrency’s growth prospects after Trump came to power.

Harris has never traded in cryptocurrencies and has not previously expressed his views on the crypto market.

On the other hand, Trump has always been a believer in the crypto market and has been working hard to push it forward.

Musk, the world's richest man, is also a cryptocurrency enthusiast. Judging from Musk's support for Trump, Harris's statement that supporting the crypto market is more like a vote-scam. In comparison, Trump is more of a die-hard fan of blockchain.
