🚨🚨Binance issues alert about global virus attack stealing cryptocurrencies from users
A global malware attack is stealing cryptocurrencies from investors by altering withdrawal addresses, resulting in financial losses for thousands of users.
Binance, in a statement released this Friday (13), detailed how this type of malicious software, known as "Clipper malware," modifies wallet addresses during the withdrawal process, diverting cryptocurrencies to criminals' wallets.
The threat affects users who install apps on mobile phones or dubious extensions in browsers, causing great concern for the world's largest exchange.
Since the end of August 2024, Binance has observed an increase in these attacks, with criminals mainly targeting Android users and web browsers.
However, iOS users should also remain vigilant. The malware works by intercepting clipboard data, where information is copied before being pasted, changing the original address to that of the attacker without the victim noticing.
Many of these attacks occur through apps and plugins downloaded outside official stores, especially in countries with access restrictions to conventional platforms.
