Tesla boss Elon Musk expressed his opinion on the arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in France. He tweeted: "Let me tell you about the First Amendment of the US Constitution. It is a strong spokesperson for free speech!" He was emphasizing how important free speech is because Durov was arrested.
Musk also made a joke that by 2030, people in Europe might be executed for liking an emoticon. This is of course an exaggeration, but the meaning is clear: he is worried that free speech will be restricted.
The First Amendment of the US Constitution protects everyone's right to speak and publish freely, and does not allow the government to interfere at will.
