Shocking news!
Cryptocurrency fraudster suspected of over 100 billion!
Extradited back to China!
On August 23, Xinhua News Agency reported that
On the evening of August 20,
with the strong assistance of multiple Chinese departments and Thailand,
the Ministry of Public Security's "Fox Hunting Operation" working group
extradited Zhang Yufa, a major economic crime suspect, from Thailand back to China.
He is the first economic crime suspect extradited from Thailand by China after the China-Thailand Extradition Treaty came into effect in 1999.
Since 2012,
Zhang Yufa's MBI Group has been engaged in virtual digital currency,
making people pay to become members,
attracting people with high rebates,
relying on the development of members and the amount of funds to calculate rewards,
engaging in online pyramid schemes.
The funds involved exceeded 100 billion.
In 2020, the Chongqing police filed a case,
was issued a red notice by Interpol in 2021,
was arrested in Thailand in 2022,
and then China applied for extradition.
In May this year, a Thai court ruled on extradition, and in August the Thai government decided to support it.
