According to Foresight News, the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate jointly issued the "Interpretation on Several Issues Concerning the Application of Law in Handling Criminal Cases of Money Laundering" ("Interpretation"), which will come into effect on August 20, 2024.

(Explanation) There are 13 articles in total, which clearly define the identification standards for the crimes of "self-laundering" and "money laundering by others", the examination and identification standards for the subjective understanding of the crime of "money laundering by others", and the identification standards for the "serious circumstances" of money laundering crimes.

(Explanation) It also clarifies seven specific circumstances of "concealing or disguising the source and nature of criminal proceeds and their proceeds by other means", the principle of concurrent punishment for crimes such as money laundering and concealing or disguising criminal proceeds and criminal proceeds, and the standards for the amount of fines and lenient punishment.
