The interview was actually hacked.
Before the interview began, Musk said the glitch was caused by a massive DDOS attack and would be fixed as soon as possible. "Worst case scenario, we will continue to reduce the number of live listeners and release the conversation later," Musk said in his X post.
"A lot of people are opposed to listening to Trump's speech," Musk said when he began his interview with Trump after the massive cyber attack. Before Monday's event, Musk also wrote: "I will do some system expansion tests tonight and tomorrow to prepare for this conversation."
The chaos is reminiscent of a similar incident in May 2023, when Florida Governor Ron DeSantis encountered chaos due to a platform failure while running for the Republican presidential nomination.
The one-hour broadcast was disconnected for a long time, and thousands of users were unable to join or were disconnected. DeSantis eventually lost to Trump and lost his nomination.
At the time, Trump mocked DeSantis on his social media platform Truth Social. Trump tweeted: "My red button is bigger, better, stronger, and works (truth!), and yours doesn't."
Currently, Vice President Harris has erased Trump's lead in the polls and energized Democratic voters with a series of high-energy rallies. The Democratic National Convention in Chicago next week may once again enhance Harris' momentum.
