Ordinals added to U.S. National Vulnerability Database on December 9
The U.S. National Vulnerability Database (NVD) flagged BTC Ordinals as a cybersecurity risk on December 9, calling attention to the vulnerability. Being added to the NVD's list means that a specific cybersecurity vulnerability has been identified and deemed important for raising public awareness. The database is managed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), a division of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
As previously reported, Bitcoin Core developer Luke Dashjr said that a vulnerability exploited by Inscription in the Bitcoin Core client has been assigned the identifier CVE-2023-50428. In this regard, SlowMist founder Yu Xian said that it is normal for CVE numbers to be cited by NVD, and it does not rise to the level of seeking help from the US federal government and trying to review serial number/inscription transactions.
