During the day while scrolling through the Facebook home page, I saw a member of a crypto community group asking something quite interesting because I had also experienced something similar before.

questions in the group

He asked why the BSC and ETH network addresses on Tokocrypto when scanned in the blockchain explorer (bscscan & etherscan) showed a number of certain assets, but did not appear in his Tokocrypto application.

Is this a stray asset??😲

Of course not😆

To understand this case, we need to know about Custodial Wallet and Non-Custodial Wallet

  • In Custodial Wallet, the Private Key/Seed Phrase is stored by third party services such as Tokocrypto or Binance

  • In Non-Custodial Wallet, Private Key/SeedPhrase is stored by ourselves like in Metamask or Trustwallet

When using Custodial Wallet on Binance, Centralized Exchange has full control over the wallet on-chain. Users only have a public key/wallet address as an address to receive crypto assets. Meanwhile, when sending crypto assets, they are usually sent from Binance Hot Wallet.

This is what causes the difference in the number of assets in the Binance and Blockchain Explorer applications. Because when we send crypto assets, the assets do not come out of our wallet, but from Binance Hot Wallet.

For example, this is my transaction using Binance

I deposited on Binance
I withdrew from Biinance, assets were sent from Binance 20 (one of Binance's hot wallets)

Then the assets visible in Blockchain Explorer will usually be sent to Binance Hot Wallet to be accumulated and used for transactions by Binance.

So you should more or less understand a little about how Binance manages its users' wallets. If there are still people who are confused, you can just comment so we can discuss it together.

Here I will only explain briefly, but if you are interested in learning more about Custodial Wallet and Non-Custodial Wallet, you can go to Binance Academy
