Sony! Relaunching the Japanese exchange
According to TechFlow on June 28, 2024, Sony will relaunch the Japanese exchange WhaleFin. The exchange was acquired from Amber Group, a crypto financial service provider, in 2023. This move shows that Sony has entered the field through cooperation and investment in start-ups.
As early as 2019, Sony and Fujitsu cooperated to develop an encrypted database using blockchain technology, which will prevent forged Japanese proficiency documents. In addition, Sony also plans to join forces with Daiwa Securities to establish a fund with a total amount of more than 20 billion yen through a joint venture, and to establish an investment fund with a total amount of more than 20 billion yen in 2019 to invest in start-ups in fields such as artificial intelligence. The investment period is expected to be about 10 years, and the investment areas include robots, artificial intelligence (AI) and financial technology.
