The token, called World Cup Coin, has risen more than 30,000% since its May 11, 2026, launch on token launchpad Pump.fun. The project has no official affiliation with FIFA.
The trader made five purchases totaling $341 within hours of the token going live. World Cup Coin carried a market cap below $40,000 at the time of those purchases. The token traded sideways for roughly 12 hours before its market cap spiked to $2.18 million, then climbed to $6 million the following day. The trader sold $35,700 worth of tokens during those two moves.
World Cup Coin then pulled back 49% to a $3.15 million market cap. It subsequently hit an all-time high of $12.2 million on May 21, representing a gain of more than 30,000% from the trader's first purchase. The trader sold additional tokens during that spike, bringing total realized proceeds to $49,400 across 78 transactions, according to block explorer SolScan.
As of May 26, the token had a market cap of $8.37 million. The trader's remaining holdings were valued at $108,200, per DEX Screener data. Combined with the $49,400 already realized, the total value of the original $341 position stands at $157,600. Those unrealized gains are subject to change based on price movement.
The same deploying wallet also launched individual nation tokens on Pump.fun for each country competing in the tournament. France, Spain, and Portugal carry the largest market caps among those tokens, at $315,000, $255,000, and $225,000, respectively, per Pump(dot)fun data. The same trader holds nation tokens, with $9,400 in Spain as the largest single-country position, according to SolScan.
Trader allocations across nation tokens appear to align with perceived tournament favorites. France, Spain, Portugal, England, Brazil, and Argentina are among the teams with the highest probability of winning, based on prediction market data. Meme coins tied to scheduled events have historically attracted buying pressure in the lead-up to the event before declining once the occasion begins or passes.
