Why the U.S. Wants to End This War at Any Cost
The war with Iran has gone on longer than anyone expected.
President Trump is now pushing to end it at any cost.
Even on terms that look like a retreat.
Why the sudden urgency?
Here are the reasons.
First, the economic damage is spiraling.
Oil hit $110. Gas prices are up 400 percent in some regions. Inflation is spiking again. The Fed can't cut rates.
The consumer is feeling the pain. That kills elections.
Second, the Strait of Hormuz is still blocked.
Twenty percent of global oil is trapped. Iran is picking winners and losers. China and India get oil.
The U.S. and Japan get nothing. That's a geopolitical humiliation.
Third, NATO cracked.
When the war started, America called its allies. Most of them said no. Spain blocked bases. France closed airspace. Germany refused troops. The UK said it would not be drawn in. The U.S. is fighting this war nearly alone.
Fourth, the cost is staggering.
The U.S. burned through Patriot interceptors at a massive rate. Iran's cheap drones are draining expensive missiles. The defense industrial base is struggling to keep up.
Fifth, Iran isn't breaking.
The regime didn't collapse.
The new leader is more radical. Missiles are still launching. The strait is still shut. Military dominance hasn't translated into victory.
Sixth, Trump wants to move on.
He promised to end wars, not start them. This conflict is dragging into election season. Every day it continues is a political liability.
So now the U.S. is looking for an exit.
Any exit.
Even if it means letting Iran claim victory.
Even if it means leaving the strait in Iranian hands. \Even if it means allies get punished.
The war is costing too much. In money. In oil. In politics. In global standing.
America wants out. At any cost. Because staying in costs more.
