According to PANews, the Ethereum Foundation's account abstraction team has introduced the Ethereum Interoperability Layer (EIL) proposal. This initiative aims to unify all Layer 2 networks into a single Ethereum chain. The proposal is based on the ERC-4337 standard and the principle of trustless declaration, allowing users to complete cross-chain transactions with a single signature without additional trust assumptions. Users can initiate and settle cross-Layer 2 operations directly from their wallets, eliminating the need for relays or solvers.
The EIL seeks to address the fragmentation issues of Layer 2 networks, simplifying token management and cross-chain transfer processes. Users only need to select the asset and address, and the wallet will automatically handle inter-chain routing and asset delivery. This approach is designed to streamline operations and enhance the efficiency of transactions across different Layer 2 networks.
