According to Odaily, the Ukrainian government is preparing legislation to establish a national strategic Bitcoin reserve. Ukraine currently holds approximately 46,351 BTC, valued at around $4.8 billion. These Bitcoins were primarily acquired through donations, asset seizures, and fundraising during the war. Ukrainian lawmaker Yaroslav Zhelezniak stated that the bill is in its final drafting stage and is expected to be submitted to parliament soon. The legislation aims to formally integrate Bitcoin into the national financial strategy.
Previously, the Ukrainian parliament passed a virtual assets bill, which was later withdrawn due to pressure from the presidential office and the National Securities Commission. The National Securities Commission has since proposed 80 amendments to improve the legal framework for crypto assets. This move highlights Ukraine's increasing emphasis on cryptocurrencies within its national financial strategy.
