According to Foresight News, two detectives from the New York Police Department are under investigation for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping and torture of Italian cryptocurrency entrepreneur Michael Valentino Teofrasto Carturan. Detectives Roberto Cordero and Raymond J. Low were reassigned to restrictive duties on May 28. The investigation revealed that they may have provided unauthorized security services to the kidnappers. Cordero also picked up the victim Carturan from the airport on May 6. Carturan was unlawfully detained for over two weeks by two cryptocurrency investors and was tortured as they attempted to access his cryptocurrency wallet containing millions of dollars in Bitcoin. Carturan ultimately escaped and reported to the police, and the Manhattan District Attorney's Office has charged the two with kidnapping and torture, with an unsealing of Woeltz's indictment set for June 11.
