The main utility token at the heart of the Midnight Network is $NIGHT. The Glacier Drop will be used to disperse a sizable amount of the 24 billion tokens in total. Cardano holders will get the biggest portion, with 12 billion tokens (or 50%) going to them, according to the whitepaper. 1.2 billion tokens, which are part of the 7.2 billion distributed among six other blockchains, including XRP, BAT, Ethereum, and others, are available to holders of XRP.
The quantity of XRP held at the moment of the snapshot will determine the incentives that holders will get. A greater percentage of the $NIGHT tokens, for instance, will go to people who own more XRP. Depending on individual balances, the exact distribution will change.
Claiming $NIGHT token :
$NIGHT Token Claiming and Locking Beginning in July 2025, holders of eligible XRP can start claiming their $NIGHT tokens. Users only need to input a Cardano address and sign with their wallets to complete the simple process. To take part in the airdrop, there is no cost and no KYC (Know Your Customer) verification is necessary.
The $NIGHT tokens will be locked into a Cardano-based smart contract after they are claimed.
By distributing tokens progressively over the Redemption Period, this contract will avoid sudden sell-offs. Over the course of the following year, the tokens will be "thawed" in four parts, promoting sustained network engagement and lowering possible market volatility.
