According to ChainCatcher, Chainalysis CEO Jonathan Levin pointed out at the 2025 Consensus crypto conference that recent kidnappings of individuals in the crypto industry and their families in Paris stem from criminal organizations' misunderstanding of the traceability of cryptocurrencies.
Levin stated that although law enforcement has made significant progress in tracking stolen funds and crypto ransom payments, leading to many arrests, some criminal organizations still mistakenly believe that cryptocurrencies are untraceable, which has led to these criminal acts.
