According to PANews, OpenAI announced its transformation from a for-profit entity to a 'Public Benefit Corporation' (PBC) to better balance the company's mission with capital operations. This PBC will continue to be overseen and controlled by OpenAI's original nonprofit organization, which will also become its main shareholder. OpenAI's board chairman Bret Taylor and CEO Sam Altman stated that this decision was made after discussions with the judicial departments of California and Delaware, aiming to ensure that AI development benefits all of humanity and to enhance funding mobilization capabilities to meet the enormous computational resources required in the AGI era.
