📌 What happened

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Lieutenant Colonel Deepak Kumar Sharma, posted with the Department of Defence Production under the Ministry of Defence in an alleged corruption and bribery case.

He was arrested along with a civilian, Vinod Kumar, after the agency registered a case on December 19, 2025.

💰 Cash seized

During searches at multiple locations including Sharma’s residence in Delhi and his wife’s residence in Sri Ganganagar (Rajasthan), the CBI seized a total of about ₹2.36 crore in cash.

🔎 Alleged offence

The FIR alleges that Lt Col Sharma accepted bribes (₹3 lakh) from a private company in exchange for providing undue favours related to defence manufacturing and export clearances.

Investigations also name his wife, Col. Kajal Bali, and individuals linked to a Dubai-based company in connection with a criminal conspiracy.

Both the accused have been produced before a special CBI court and were remanded in custody till December 23, 2025.
