According to PANews, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has expressed support for a bill to establish a Bitcoin strategic reserve in the state. The bill, known as SB 21, was passed by the state House of Representatives on May 21 and is currently awaiting the governor's signature.

Governor Abbott has been a public advocate for cryptocurrency legislation since 2021. In 2024, he proposed transforming Texas into a 'crypto capital.' Following the 2024 elections, Texas is among the few state governments considering the establishment of a crypto reserve. Previously, New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte signed a similar bill on May 6, and Arizona has also enacted new regulations regarding unclaimed cryptocurrencies.
