It's fully open-source and highly flexible, empowering developers to connect chains, assets, apps, and virtual machines without waiting for team approvals, governance processes, or paying integration fees.

Any chain or application can independently deploy Hyperlane’s modules, enabling fast, customized setups. With support for over 170 chains—including EVMs like Bittensor and Starknet, SVM, Cosmos, and ZKsync—Hyperlane is expanding rapidly and actively developing support for Move and TON. Its dedicated engineering pod assists developers, often launching bridges or assets within days.

To reward participation, Hyperlane introduces Expansion Rewards, a predictable, quarterly distribution of HYPER tokens based on protocol usage. Unlike one-time airdrops, these rewards continue for four years. The HYPERstreak boosts these rewards—users staking stHYPER from the Token Generation Event (April 22) can earn up to a 1.6x multiplier. Holding stHYPER continuously qualifies users for a 60% reward boost.

Additionally, ExpansionDrop rewards early protocol adopters based on a February 28, 2025 snapshot. With 85% of the rewards passed to users and 88% registered pre-launch, around 65 million tokens will be distributed at launch, with bonus rewards for key actions like LPing or NFT usage.
