If you’re waiting for the market to completely reverse against you before admitting that the trend is over, then you’re definitely paying money to learn something you should have already seen on the chart.
Look, my friend, no trend lasts forever — ever.
Every trend starts strong, then stabilizes, and eventually weakens gradually before reversing.
And the only trader who can truly protect his profits is the one who knows how to read early signs of weakness.
The first sign of a weakening trend is decreasing momentum.
If you’re in an uptrend and notice that large candles are starting to shrink, while the RSI and MACD begin to show divergence (meaning price keeps rising, but the indicators aren’t rising anymore), that’s a clear signal that buyers are getting tired.
In that case, my friend, you shouldn’t sell immediately — never try to anticipate the move.
Instead, stop adding new positions and start observing carefully.
The second sign, after the loss of momentum, is false breakouts.
In an uptrend, like what happened with gold last Friday, the market keeps pushing higher and makes new highs above previous peaks.
At that point, everyone starts buying, often with big lot sizes — and most don’t even use a stop loss.
Then suddenly, what happens? The price flips and drops.
That breakout wasn’t confirmation — it was a trap.
So if you see several false breakouts in a row, understand that the trend is losing credibility.
Take a step back; it’s perfectly fine to stay out of the market until things become clearer.
And one of the most important signals, which most traders ignore, is volume.
Every genuine move must be backed by strong trading volume.
If price is rising but volume is falling, that means the move is artificial, and the market could kick you out at any moment.
When you see these signs, don’t fight the trend.
Reduce your position size, lock in some profits, and use a trailing stop instead of letting the market take back your hard-earned gains.
And if there’s a clear break of a key support or resistance zone, the new trend will be obvious — so change your outlook immediately.
Never fight the market, my friend.
Otherwise, the market will teach you lessons in its own harsh way —
the first is loss, and the second is regret.
