Trump and Putin to Hold Ukraine Peace Talks in Alaska

US President Donald Trump announced he will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15 to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine. Trump claimed the two sides are nearing a ceasefire deal, potentially involving territorial concessions from Ukraine.

Putin's aide, Yuri Ushakov, confirmed the meeting, stating the leaders will focus on finding a "long-term peaceful resolution" to the conflict. Trump hinted at possible land swaps, saying, "There'll be some swapping of territories to the betterment of both."

The talks come after three and a half years of war, with Ukraine potentially facing significant territorial losses in any deal. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's stance remains unclear as Trump pushes for a resolution ahead of the US election.
