China has issued a sharp response after NATO’s secretary-general warned that Donald Trump could impose secondary sanctions on Brazil, India, and China for continuing trade with Russia.

Trump recently threatened to enforce 100% tariffs on those nations if Russia fails to agree to a peace deal on Ukraine within 50 days.

China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Lin Jian, firmly rejected the approach:

“Dialogue and negotiation are the only practical solutions to the Ukraine crisis. China is against unilateral sanctions and the abuse of long-arm jurisdiction. Tariff wars produce no winners, and coercion or pressure is bound to fail.”
