CEO of Remixpoint in Japan Switches Entire Compensation to Bitcoin, a First in the Country
Remixpoint, a Japanese energy firm, has declared it will pay its CEO's entire executive compensation in Bitcoin, marking the first instance of such a decision by a listed company in Japan. The company believes this move aligns with its goal of "shareholder-oriented management", as it allows the CEO to share the same economic risks and rewards as shareholders.
The payment will initially be made in Japanese yen, as per legal requirements, but will subsequently be converted to Bitcoin at market price. The CEO, Yoshihiko Takahashi, sees this as a pledge to share the same fate as shareholders and aims to increase corporate value. This forms part of a broader trend in Japan where more companies are incorporating Bitcoin into their corporate strategies.
