US Secret Service recovers $400M in crypto, blocks $225M USDT scam

The US Secret Service’s GIOC has recovered nearly $400 million in digital assets over the past decade, much of it stored in a single cold wallet. A major $225 million USDT pig-butchering scam was successfully intercepted.

Investigators used blockchain data, VPN leaks, and worked with Coinbase and Tether to freeze wallets. GIOC has also trained officials in over 60 countries to fight crypto crime.

In 2024, Americans lost $9.3 billion to crypto-related scams.
