Em 2018, a CVM identificou a Unick Forex como uma pirâmide financeira ilegal, oferecendo valores mobiliários sem autorização. Apesar da advertência, os líderes continuaram atuando. Em 2019, um processo administrativo resultou em multas de R$ 12 milhões. A Operação Lamanai da PF desmantelou o esquema, indiciando 15 pessoas por crimes financeiros.
Os irmãos Prata, líderes regionais, não foram punidos devido à falta de legislação específica na época. No entanto, especialistas afirmam que podem ser responsabilizados pelo Código de Defesa do Consumidor.
