SOL just printed ~$118.66 (+9.6% 24h) while BTC is ~+$6.9%. That outperformance is real — and so is the upgrade story.

What's actually new

On Sep 18, Solana activated 250ms target slot times (SIMD-0525, epoch 1037). That's the fourth step on the path toward 200ms. Faster slots = tighter confirmation windows for DeFi, bots, and apps that care about latency. Holders on CEX don't need to "do" anything; builders and validators already did the hard work.

My single-asset filter (not a shill)

1. Thesis: speed roadmap + relative strength vs BTC can keep capital rotating into SOL — IF the move digests cleanly.

2. Timing: a +9% day after a known upgrade is often chase fuel. Prefer a calm retest over buying the vertical candle.

3. Invalidation: SOL loses relative strength vs BTC for 2+ sessions, or the narrative flips to instability under load.

4. Risk stack: leverage flushes, any high-throughput hiccup, and broad risk-off can unwind RS fast.

What I'm watching next

• Does SOL hold strength on pullbacks, or give it all back vs BTC?

• Are follow-through flows still there after the first spike?

• Is the next speed step (200ms) still the roadmap — or is price already pricing perfection?
