According to Foresight News, Swiss banks UBS, PostFinance, and Sygnum have successfully conducted a test of interbank payments on the Ethereum blockchain using deposit tokens. This innovative approach allows for legal settlements between banks without relying on traditional payment systems. The pilot project included peer-to-peer payments between clients and the exchange of deposit tokens with assets, demonstrating both technical and legal feasibility.
The next phase aims to involve more banks, infrastructure providers, and regulatory bodies to explore the scalability of the system. This development marks a significant step towards modernizing interbank payment processes and leveraging blockchain technology for efficient and secure transactions.
