Twitter pfps were the first digital real estate that gave NFTs a place for us to flex.
Punk w/ fidenza bg… it gave you instant status. That led to the last NFT bull run.
Twitter was on the right track with verified NFT pfps, tipping, etc. But then the X rebrand came along and the roadmap became less clear.
Now enter Telegram.
It’s what we all use as the primary messaging app in thjs space. What’s dope is that crypto is embedded, which enables an ecosystem of mini apps, NFT gifts and stickers, and games.
And it reaches 1b users. That’s 2x compared to X.
X still has the edge in viral broadcast. TG is built for deep communities but the lines are blurring. X now has private chats. TG is scaling public channels.
Pfps were just the start. Imagine your entire chat screen as digital real estate. I think that’s where we’re headed.
The reality is, if we stayed the same, we’d be dead.
Back then royalties were flowing and the playbook was different. Sticking to that model is a losing strategy. Instead, we expanded further on our vision for an open anime universe.
Anime.com is on its way to becoming the #1 fandom platform for a billion anime fans.
Animecoin is trading on major exchanges with nearly $200M volume in the past 24 hours, onboarding new holders daily.
And Azuki is the brand and community leading the way.
The Azuki IP is resonating globally with millions of views on our content, and the key animator for Akira came out of retirement to work on our next anthology episode. Japan is paying attention - the biggest anime publishers are spinning up their own web3 teams inspired by what we've built.
The $ANIME army is growing with Azuki in charge.
And we're just getting started...
The biggest Azuki initiative yet? Still to come this year.
Because it’s important to me that we experiment within web3. That’s how novel things are born. Or it “fails”, but a small nugget inspires a future success.
At the same time we also gotta be loud outside of web3. That’s also how we grow the space.
This belief is why I’ve pushed Azuki to do some nerd stuff like working w flashbots on TEE apps ie Bobu magic show.
And at the same time, why I’m excited to be on stage at the largest convention in LA to talk about anime 2.0
Congrats @spencer on the Moonbirds acquisition! Great to see web3 IP in capable hands.
Yuga focusing on Apes makes sense, so this move feels like a good fit for both sides. There's real synergy between web3 IP and TCGs, excited to see that play out here.
