Doing 0 --> 1 all over again with FlashDuels by @FilamentFinance has been both humbling and energizing.
After the setback w/ Filament Pro, we chose not to rush. Instead, we paused, reflected, and wrote down everything we wanted to do better this time.
Top of that list? Picking the right ecosystem to build Flashduels in. For us, that’s clearly @base. It’s where early-stage builders still have a real shot, and a strong support system.
We just joined Incubase this week, and already feel the difference. It’s the path of least resistance for any team trying to find product-market fit without drowning in infra debt or noise.
We’re thinking of sharing our entire journey of building on Base as a public good - warts, wins, and lessons. If it helps even a few builders avoid the mistakes we made, it’s worth it.
Big thanks to @Saxenasaheb, @jessepollak, and @HashedEM for creating space for new dapps like FlashDuels to thrive.
Moving back to India and spending time with my family and frens who aren’t crypto native has helped a lot in grasping:
> What they use on daily basis? > Their pain points > What’s ideal onboarding flow for them?
(Hate to break it but just adding Fiat-on-ramp is not enough, users in geographies like India are price sensitive - paying $0.1 for on-ramping $1 isn’t going to work for them)
Also, have been able to understand that crypto has a charm of speculation for most - hence they feel it’s gambling only.
But I shared some ideas with them and showed them some apps to ask if they would use them - a lot of them actually liked these apps.
Few areas I found extremely underserved when these folks started asking for examples of apps if they exist in crypto:
- Travel and Nomadic experiences (mentioned @OnchainCity - but had nothing to show) - Duolingo for crypto - referred “How to DeFi” books but honestly there is no simple app to create a fun experiences for people to learn and be rewarded - Savings or Micro-transactions app - most things I showcased seem to alienate these users

Swapping my timeline with AI teams, hackers and scholars has improved my content value significantly.
Crypto is in transformation period and will see a lot of new use-cases by end of this year but CT is the most demoralising place - not taking signal from CT rn.
It’s been couple weeks since we started A/B testing with Flashduels.
Before we blast the market to everyone, we’re doing a lot of 1:1 feedback sessions.
One of the things I am trying - would I use this product aggressively myself. For every market I think twice, we are striking it off.
Few things we are focusing on before full launch:
> Mobile-friendly UI > Market creation through twitter/farcaster/telegram > Have two net new and curated markets - high demand, low accessibility as of today > Creator <> Trader value loop
With dozens of Launchpad launching every month, it is becoming increasing interesting to have platform for customisable and user-owned bidirectional markets.
@base seems to be the best ecosystem to start with - users, tooling, easiest on-ramp for users beyond crypto.
