FTX Successfully Disburses $7.1B with Another Round Expected by Early 2026
The bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX has successfully completed three rounds of payouts, distributing about $7.1 billion over nearly three years. This includes a large payout of $5 billion that covered both large and smaller claims. The exchange's representative, Sunil Kavuri, approximates the total FTX assets to be around $16-17 billion and anticipates the upcoming distribution to occur in January 2026. This positive news comes after the FTX Recovery Trust withdrew its request to limit payouts to creditors in almost 50 foreign jurisdictions, a decision that faced severe criticism. However, the controversy surrounding the exchange persists, with its convicted founder Sam Bankman-Fried continually attempting to manipulate the narrative from prison, despite significant backlash and repeated debunking of his claims.
