Recently, YouTube announced that starting from November 17, it will expand its online gambling content policy, prohibiting directing to gambling websites that offer items of monetary value (including game skins, cosmetics, and NFTs), causing panic among crypto content creators. Many are concerned that the platform will completely ban videos related to crypto games. However, YouTube officials pointed out that this update will not affect general crypto games or NFT-related videos.

The official clarified: The target is gambling websites, not crypto games
A YouTube spokesperson stated: "General content such as showcasing in-game skins or cosmetics, or discussing items with real-world value (like NFTs), will not be affected by this policy update." The platform emphasized that the policy targets gambling-focused websites and promotional content, not legitimate crypto games or player experience videos.
The company pointed out that this enhancement of gambling policies is due to the increasing number of creators accepting sponsorships from gambling websites, which not only offer cash rewards but also use cryptocurrencies or NFTs as incentives. The new policy will require all videos directing to such websites to be removed or set as age-restricted content; if the site has obtained Google certification, it will not be affected.
Community response: Panic alleviated, but gray areas still exist
According to YouTube's latest statement, as long as the video does not promote gambling websites or guarantee profits, the content will not be deleted or warned. Creators who educate, comment, or simply showcase game content can still publish safely. YouTube added: Any content that guarantees profit or promises quick returns may still be deleted, regardless of whether it is linked to gambling websites. Furthermore, even if it meets the guidelines, videos showcasing certified gambling applications will still be set as age-restricted to comply with industry standards and consumer protection requirements.
