FRANCE PUSHES UNREALIZED GAINS TAX ON #BITCOIN
French MPs have voted to advance a proposal replacing France’s property wealth tax with a broader levy on “unproductive wealth.”
This would include assets like #bitcoin , jewellery, art, yachts, property and other “luxury” items.
The reform, still subject to parliamentary review, would apply a flat 1% annual rate, even if the assets aren’t sold.
Supporters say it will push capital toward productive investments, while critics warn it could punish savers, complicate valuations, and revive old political divides over the former ISF wealth tax abolished in 2017.
