Most Common Scams in Binance P2P (Venezuela)
1. The "Chargeback" Scam
This is one of the most dangerous and common scams involving bolívares.
· How it works: 1. You sell USDT and receive a transfer in bolívares to your bank account. 2. The scammer shows you a payment receipt (fake or manipulated). 3. You, believing that the payment has been made, release the USDT. 4. Minutes or hours later, the payment is REVERSED by the bank. The scammer claims it was a mistake or that their account was hacked. 5. Result: You lose your USDT and do not see the money in bolívares. · Why it happens: In Venezuela, some transfers (especially between certain banks) are not instantaneous and can be reversed under certain circumstances, or the scammer uses a hacked account.
2. Fake Payment Receipts
· How it works: 1. The buyer sends you a fake transfer receipt edited with Photoshop or created in a fake mobile banking app. 2. The receipt looks real: it has your name, the amount, the date, and even a reference number. 3. If you do not CHECK DIRECTLY IN YOUR BANKING APP that the money is in your account, you release the USDT and lose.
3. The "Off-Platform" Scam
· How it works: 1. A "buyer" contacts you through a P2P ad. 2. They tell you they have a problem and ask you to communicate via WhatsApp, Telegram, or Instagram. 3. Once off Binance, they offer you a "better price" or a faster deal. 4. They ask you to send them the USDT first, promising to pay you later, or they send you a fake payment. 5. Binance cannot protect you because the conversation and the transaction did not happen on their platform.
