Somnia Blockchain: The First High-performance Infrastructure of the Metaverse.

In September 2025, Somnia released their Layer 1 blockchain, an immersive virtual world and real-time application power chain, which will be able to support digital innovation. It also supports more than 400,000 transactions per second and its finality is less than a second, as it is especially effective in metaverse settings, where the seamless experience is essential. This is given its MultiStream consensus protocol that supports multiple transaction streams taken simultaneously making it efficient at heavy loads.

Designed to run on games and virtual societies, Somnia takes advantage of high-speed compression and BLS aggregation of data to transfer data, pointing at sub-cent charges per transaction. The compatibility with EVM enables developers to operate with familiar tools and deploy smart contracts without difficulties, compiling them to machine code to execute them faster, fusing Web2 performance with Web3 ownership. This allows data-intensive applications such as on-chain gaming.

Somnia focuses on interoperability in the metaverse by its protocols SOM0 and SOM1, which allow assets such as NFTs and avatars to be transferred between blockchains. This enables a single ecosystem, in which creators have the ability to remix content and users keep portable digital identities. Metaverse Markup Language (MML) is an open-source standard that standardizes creation of assets, enabling large-scale creation of virtual environments which can have thousands of users at once.

The vision of Somnia is a creator-generated virtual society, which should bring together gaming, NFTs, and virtual economies to exist in a single network. It enables creators with 3D NFTs with Dream Builder and testing experiences with Playground. By October 2025, Somnia is remaking digital space, providing a scalable, low-cost platform to allow gamers and developers to make the most of large, lag-free worlds.
